The Sharon Men’s Club has been extremely fortunate to have Sandra Evans as Musical Director and Accompanist for its choral group The Hits and Mrs. for the past seven years and with many more to follow.  Because of Sandra’s patient, leadership, and artistic abilities The Hits and Mrs. have become a great addition to the Club and wonderful and uplifting venue to the people that view its concerts.   Sandra puts the theme and the songs for each concert together and then with the Choral Group they decide which songs to keep in the concert, which will be solos, and which will be sung as a group. Then the practice begins!

Sandra is a resident of Sharon, Massachusetts where she lives with her husband, Jerry.  She graduated from the College of New Jersey with a B.A. in music teaching and performance in both piano and voice.  As a soloist, she has performed throughout New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Yugoslavia with many choruses, orchestras, and ensembles, and has sung in various churches and synagogues throughout the country.

Sandra has appeared on many radio and TV stations in the Boston area.  Some of her credits include being a featured guest on WBZ radio with David Brudnoy and on his former TV show, where she played the piano and sang for the entertainment segment, on WBZ TV with Dave Maynard as a trophy winner on the former Community Auditions show, were she played and sang an original song and was invited back as a professional musician; and on Channel 7 as the assistant to the producer of the Cerebral Palsy Telethon as well as an entertainer for the local celebrities there.

Sandra was the winner of two Griffith Awards for outstanding piano competition, she has also won prizes for her liturgical compositions and played Golde in a production of Fiddler on the Roof with the Neponset Choral Society.  As a frequent singer with Al Vega and his trio at the Logan Hilton, Sandra showed her jazz technique and presented her many talented students.

Sandra has been singing since the age of 3 for audiences of all ages.  At the present time she sings in more than 10 languages, accompanying herself on piano, autoharp, and synthesizer.  She is the accompanist and a soloist for the Kol Miriam Choir, entertains for Friday Frolics at the Coleman House in Newton, as well as various Council of Aging groups.  She was a member of M.U.S.E., an organization of professional singers who perform for the elderly in nursing homes, which has recently disbanded.

Sandra’s opera credits include Musetta in La Boheme, The Medium in The Medium, Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, special ensemble member in Don Carlo in Boston’s Jordan Hall, and Mother Abbess in Suor Angelica and recently was in the select chorus for Amahl and the Night Visitors, all with the Boston Bel Canto Opera Company.
